ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: 

Rhodri Lloyd has rapidly established himself as one of the UK’s authorities on youth strength and conditioning, athletic development and long term athlete development. In this workshop you’ll be up-skilled as to the “Do’s and Don’t” of training both children and adolescents culminating in Rhodri presenting his Athletic Development model which ties everything together.

IN THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL LEARN: 

Concepts of growth, maturation and LTAD for youth physical development and how to apply in the real world to your practice as coaches and trainers

- Practical Introduction to resistance training strategies for youth: What you can do and how to gauge where your young athletes are at from a progression standpoint.

- Functional Movement Screen and it’s application to young athletes

- Strength training for the younger generation

-Intermediate training strategies including strength, power, movement and endurance training


ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Rhodri S. Lloyd, PhD, ASCC, CSCS*D is currently a lecturer in Physiology and Health at Cardiff Metropolitan University. His research interests surround the impact of growth and m

aturation on the athletic development of youths; long-term athletic development modeling; motor skill development in children; and the neuromuscular mechanisms underpinning resistance training adaptations. Rhodri is a Board Director and assistant tutor for the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), and acts as the paediatric lead for the association. In the summer of 2012, he was lead author for the UKSCA’s inaugural position statement on youth resistance training. Rhodri also serves as a member of the Executive Council for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Youth Training Special Interest group. Recently, Rhodri has consulted with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) on their respective long-term athletic development programmes.
