    About the workshop:

    You will experience a typical day in an international rugby training camp (with a few modifications of course) which will give you a full understanding of just what is required and undertaken at that level of performance support.

    Your day will begin with a weigh-In (camp style) followed by a Wellness assessment as used by the England rugby team in their camps.

    You will then have the opportunity to undertake a rugby specific strength and power session in the world class lifting centre led by Simon.

    Following this you’ll go through the benefits of video analysis in an applied setting including some practical demonstrations of the technology used.

    In the afternoon anaerobic and aerobic conditioning will be covered in detail as well as a practical on field work games and conditioning.

    Agility and movement training will also be covered.

    In this workshop you will learn:

    To summarise, you’ll learn the following from the day:

    - Key performance monitoring data as used in international rugby camps

    - Strength and power training for rugby and contact sports

    - Aerobic and anaerobic conditioning theory and how to train for this in team sports

    - speed, agility and movement training for rugby

    - The structure of training camps at international level

    - Testing and data analysis

    This workshop is suitable for:

    S&C coaches, sports coaches, athletes and recreational trainees, support team members looking to learn more about olympic lifting including physios, therapists, osteopaths etc.

    About your presenter:


    Simon Worsnop is a qualified coach of both Rugby Union and Rugby League and has over 20 years experience . Simon is the National Academy Fitness Adviser for the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The holder of a number of strength and conditioning awards, Simon is the Strength and Conditioning Coach within the England Under-20 team. In this role he has worked at seven World Championships. (there used to be two age groups 19s and 21s; now there is just one, under 20) 

    He is author of “Games and Drills for Rugby” published by Human Kinetics
